Basingstoke and Deane Self Directed Support Peer Support Network

Peer support groups and networks are about bringing people together to learn from each other, share experiences and provide social and emotional support.

This project, funded by Hampshire County Council, will bring together local Disabled People, stakeholders and Direct Payments/Self Directed Support users and those meeting the eligibility criteria. The aim is to share ideas about what makes a sustainable and effective Peer Support network.

A web based forum to discuss aspects of Peer Support Networks will be developed, with the opportunity to share ideas via the blog and chat rooms.

My name is Berni Vincent (project facilitator from Southampton Centre for Independent Living) and during the next few months I will be meeting with groups and individuals to introduce the project and hear their views and thoughts.

I will be holding our first event about the project and how together we can build a sucessful peer support network on 11th Feb 2010 between 2pm and 4pm in the Cedar Room at The Orchard, White Hart Lane, Basingstoke, RG21 4AF

I look forward to meeting you or hearing from you on 02380 330982 or email berni@southamptoncil.co.uk.

I work at Southampton Centre for Independent Living.

I am working on a 6 month project. The project aims to set up Peer Support Networks for service users on Self Directed Support in Basingstoke and Deane. If you are incontact with Disabled People who access SDS would you mind asking them if they would like to contact me to discuss the project and how they can get involved.

If you would like to know more about the project please contact me on 02380330982
      Kind regards
